I LOVE physical media. So much so that when I find a bin full of DVDs to I get to searching like a rat in a pile of delicious yummy garbage. I get a little tweaky off that physical media. One of the reasons I loved going to EBGames so much. When I went and found something like an original Persona 5 Steelbook Edition... YESSSS!!!!! Ecstasy. Was reminded of this today when I had no impulse control at the op shops and bought like 10+ dvds.
But you wanna know what really made me wanna write this blog post?
Playstation announcing THEY WILL NO LONGER BE SELLING PHYSICAL DISCS IN 2028!?!?!?!? LIKE FUCKING KILL URSELF!!!! I DON'T WANT A CODE IN A CASE! SWITCHING OVER TO XBOX THIS CHRISTMAS. Dvds. LOVE IT. Game discs? LOVE IT. ESPECIALLY STEELBOOKS MY BELOVED STEELBOKS. Books? May not read them myself but they deserve to be loved and CHERISHED! PRESERVE PHYSICAL MEDIA FOREVER!!!!!
Consumer preferences shifting away? DONT GIVE A GAF. I AM A CONSUMER IN THIS GREEDY CAPITALIST SOCIETY AND I LOOOOOOOOOOVE PHYSICAL MEDIA. I wanna collect. I wanna own every game I have on physical, I wanna have a biiiiiiiiiiiiig shelf of dvds and discs like at a certain someone's little slice of heaven. I remember as a kid going over to other peoples places and seeing big dvd collections and even then I had an affinity towards it. I want TV show BOX SETS. Entire SERIES of games. COLLECTOR'S EDITIONS!!!
I want a nice pretty maximalist house full of things. Just things upon things upon things everywhere. Collections upon collections upon collections. Comic book collection, movie collection, show collection, game collection, more niche things If I have the money. Plushie collection! Vinyls and CDs! It would be so so much dusting but tbh if I had the money to afford all this stuff in the first place then I'd have enough for a maid.
And then once I am done, once my life is over at age 50 due to my poor diet choices, they will take my collections and clear out the entire wing of a library for it.
